Anthropocene Luminaire

Winter 2025
The Anthropocene Luminaire is made from discarded fishermen’s nets, damaged through years of use at sea. These nets are collected in small fishing ports along the Portuguese coast before being sent to waste incineration. Each net is cleaned, sorted, and manually reshaped, preserving its holes, knots, irregular densities, and original colour.
The first prototypes were created as part of The Anthropocene Apartment, an exhibition presented within the Lisbon Architecture Triennale. The project was widely and positively received by critics, noted for its ability to translate the abstract notion of the Anthropocene into a tangible, domestic scale.
